Arkafund To Invest 1
Million Euro in Yuntaa
Luc De Vos to join Board of
Directors of Belgian Web 2.0 start-up
Venture capital fund Arkafund has agreed to back Yuntaa.
Yuntaa is a Belgian Web 2.0 platform where users from around the world can store,
manage
and share a variety of digital files like photos, music and video.
Arkafund has agreed to invest a total of 1 million euro in Yuntaa. Luc De Vos, well
known a.o.
for his previous ventures as founder of EUnet International and PING, will chair
the company’s
Board of Directors as part of the investment agreement.
With the financial and strategic backing of Arkafund, Yuntaa will focus on expanding
its
service and outlining a new management structure.
Yuntaa: more than online back-up
Yuntaa is an online platform where registered users can securely stock files within
a personal, customizable web environment. The platform offers a unique control panel
for managing any
type of digital file and makes it easy for people to share them with friends, family
and peers.
The strong focus on community and user-generated content makes Yuntaa much more
than
merely an online back-up service. Yuntaa is a classical example of a Web 2.0 platform,
where
social interaction adds value to the primary functionalities of a web application.
Yuntaa’s user base counts well over 25 000 registered users at present.
Three business activities
Yuntaa’s new management structure will be set up around 3 business objectives: further
development of the consumer-oriented Yuntaa.com, the professional version Yuntaa.biz
and
Yuntaa OEM, which will focus more on sectorial partners.
Yuntaa was founded by 3 ‘multicultural’ entrepreneurs: Jan Lambrechts is and will
remain
CEO of the company, Nadia Lambrechts is COO and Andy Barrett heads a 20-person team
of programmers as CTO.
With the help of Arkafund, Yuntaa is looking to hire 3 to 5 additional staff members
in Belgium.
Further development of the application will remain its key focus, but Yuntaa is
also looking to
expand its marketing efforts.
Arkafund agreed to invest in Yuntaa because of its unique technology, growth potential
and
the experience of its founders.
In return, Yuntaa chose Arkafund because of its added value as one of Belgium’s
key venture
capital funds, both at a commercial and networking level as its experience within
the media
industry.
Jan Lambrechts (CEO Yuntaa): “Yuntaa considers Arkafund to be the ideal partner
for
realizing a solid growth, both in Belgium as on a European level. The expertise
Arkafund will
bring on board is invaluable for us to sustain and enhance our growth process.”
Jean-Christophe Massart (member of the Arkafund committee of directors for Sydes):
“Yuntaa is a well-thought out project that is carried by a young international team
of highly
motivated people, with all intrinsic qualities that make it a good investment. The
Sydes/Arkafund team is ready to guide Yuntaa to the next level.”
